CLOUDBREAK / GOOFY

Situated in shallow water, the fast outer-reef wave produces majestic walls and barrels. Cloudbreak is a complex wave.

Wave choice is critical, so count the waves in a set and pick the best take-off spot when you first pull up in the boat.

Thick, fast-moving lefts can hit different parts of the reef at a number of angles. Occasionally clean, long-interval groundswells do turn Cloudbreak into an amazing one-section wave. Ride length: 150m to 300m; on a good day up to 500m.

Restaurants / Goofy

Restaurants is one of the most perfect, machine-like waves on Earth.
The ideal size for Restaurants is between 3-8 feet with a medium to high tide essential to cover up the dangerous reef that lurks below.

It is typically half the size of Cloudbreak and requires a slightly larger swell to break but when it does it has to be one of the best lefts anywhere.

Wilks passage / Regular

Fiji's world class righthander, same quality of waves as the famous Cloudbreak wave.
An open-ocean reef-pass wave northwest of Namotu Island, totally exposed to swell and all wind, rising straight out of very deep water at the southern tip of Malolo Barrier Reef.

It's a fairly reasonable take-off followed by a long, warping wall with some great speed sections, ending in a shallow bowl. A good regular-foot's alternative to Namotu Left or Tavarua.

The best wind direction is northeast.

EXPERIENCE SURFING IN FIJI FOR IT'S BEST.

Other Fiji reef breaks ..........Swimming pool, Light house, Tavarua right etc...

Beach breaks............................Natadola beach, Sigatoka sand dune

Desperation / left and right, both

'About 5-10 minutes past Wilks, Desperation has several peaks, both lefts and rights.

When the surf is too small or crowded at Wilks, Desperation is your best bet.

This break is usually 1-2 ft higher than the other nearby breaks.

Not the best choice if the waves are too big, because the several peaks and extra size make it difficult to get out of the inside.'

NAMOTU LEFT / GOOFY

From 6-15 feet, Namotu left can be the thrill of a lifetime, but from 2-6 foot, shortboard, fish, longboarder or SUPper's paradise, and easily one of the longest rides in the region.

When the wind is going strong side shore, Namotu Left is as legendary in the sailboard and kitesurf world as Cloudbreak is in the surfing world.

Namotu Lefts is one of the longest rides you'll find in Fiji.
